Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (2026)
Directed by Lee Cronin
[Rated R] 2hr 14min

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is a horror film about a child who goes missing in Egypt and is found eight years later in an ancient sarcophagus. Strange things start happening to the family after they bring her home, so her father tries to investigate what really happened to her while she was missing.
This is definitely one of the grossest films I’ve ever seen. Rather than just occasionally having a disturbing scene every now and then, it’s constantly filled with revolting imagery that continues to intensify over the course of the movie. This is clearly the primary draw of the film, as it fully commits to making the audience feel as uncomfortable as possible. While all of its disgusting elements are effectively presented through incredible visual effects, that’s pretty much all the film really has to offer. At its core, this is a fairly basic story about the unconditional love that parents have for their children and the extreme lengths they will go to in order to protect them, but the narrative isn’t told in a very compelling way and is quite shallow thematically. Nothing in the film is particularly bad at all, it just doesn’t have anything remarkable outside its extremely graphic material, but that alone does make it entertaining enough to be worth checking out for those who find these aspects appealing.
I recommend Lee Cronin’s The Mummy to anyone who enjoys incredibly gross horror films, such as Lee Cronin’s previous film, Evil Dead Rise (2023). It’s content and style also feels very reminiscent of the recent Evil Dead movies as well, so fans of those films should definitely consider watching this one.
