Mad Max: Fury Road is a post-apocalyptic action film and the fourth installment of the Mad Max film franchise. It follows both Max and Furiosa in their attempts to escape from a tyrannical society that limits the availability of water to control its human population. Out in the wasteland, Max and Furiosa form an uneasy alliance as they clash with enemies pursing them in large, fortified vehicles.
Fury Road is one of the best action films ever made. Every element of the movie contributes to providing incredible action sequences throughout the entire film. The constant action never gets tiring, as each additional set piece creates new and engaging ways for the action to evolve as the story progresses. The action is also enhanced by the eccentric art direction that develops an imposing atmosphere and makes characters, vehicles, and locations feel intimidating with each encounter. Along with the fantastic cinematography, this creates a unique visual aesthetic that makes the setting feel completely authentic and alive despite everything looking significantly different from reality.
I recommend Fury Road to everyone that enjoys action movies. It’s exceptional in every aspect and provides an extremely exciting experience for the entirety of its runtime. This is a standalone story, so none of the other Mad Max movies are required to fully appreciate this film. The latest film in the Mad Max franchise, called Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is a prequel to Fury Road and releases in theaters today.
Mad Max: Fury Road is currently available to stream on Max. Click here to watch the Official Theatrical Teaser Trailer.
