KPop Demon Hunters (2025)

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans
[Rated PG] 1hr 35min
★★★½

KPop Demon Hunters is an animated musical action comedy film about a popular K-Pop group that fights demons and tries to permanently banish them from the world with their music performances. However, when a rival demon boy band starts stealing their fans, the demon hunters must work to outperform their new competition in order to save the world.

This is fun film with great animation and music. While it clearly takes some inspiration from the studio’s Spider-Verse movies, it still manages to have its own unique identity through its emphasis on Korean culture and mythology. As a result, the heavily stylized visuals work really well with the aesthetic and tone of the story. The music also stands out as a highlight of the film since the songs are incredibly catchy, and all the singers are fantastic. However, outside of its premise, the story itself is fairly generic and bland, so while this doesn’t detract from the stronger aspects of the film, the plot still holds it back from exploring the more unique elements in depth. Despite its narrative shortcomings, this film really shines in its action scenes and music performances, and those alone make the movie worth watching.

I recommend KPop Demon Hunters to anyone who enjoys lighthearted, animated, and music focused movies. It’s very entertaining all around, so it’s likely to provide a great experience whether at home or at the theater.

KPop Demon Hunters is currently available to stream on Netflix and will release in theaters this weekend as a Sing-Along event. Click here to watch the Official Trailer.
